More about Grace
I’m a chef, writer, and lifelong student of food. My connection to cooking began in my teens, when a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease forced me to pay close attention to what I was eating and how food could affect the way I felt. What started as a necessity gradually became a deep curiosity—about ingredients, seasonality, technique, and the way food can nourish and connect people.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in Communications and Professional Writing, where I founded the Food & Culture column for The California Aggie. After graduating, I pursued a career in professional kitchens, cooking at The Wing and Michelin-starred Italian restaurant S.P.Q.R. I also worked as Head of Content Marketing for Locale, partnering with nearly one hundred Bay Area farms, restaurants, and small food businesses to tell the stories behind their work.
For more than three years, I have cooked at Chez Panisse, where the menu changes daily according to what is best from the farms, ranches, and waters around us. Working closely with exceptional ingredients—and taking responsibility for dishes from initial preparation through final service—has profoundly shaped the way I cook. It has taught me to be adaptable, thoughtful, and deeply attentive to seasonality, simplicity, and the people who grow our food.
My culinary education has also taken me beyond California. I completed the Cook the Farm program at the Anna Tasca Lanza cooking school in Sicily, where I immersed myself in regional cooking, agriculture, and the relationship between the land and the table. I later traveled to Japan for a chef residency at Takigahara Farm, continuing to explore how place, tradition, and local ingredients shape a cuisine.
These experiences inform the food I prepare for my private clients: seasonal, nourishing meals made with care and rooted in exceptional ingredients. Whether I’m cooking a comforting family dinner or helping fill the refrigerator for a busy week, my goal is to create food that feels personal, generous, and genuinely enjoyable to eat.
